Renting a Car: Do I need to buy the Supplemental Liability Protection?

All rental cars in Ontario are required to have third-party liability insurance of at least $200.000. The Supplemental Liability Protection, though, will increase that amount to $1000000. If you already own a car, contact your insurance company and find out about your own third-party liability insurance policy. You may already be covered for $1000000 for rental cars, in which case the Supplemental Liability Protection is not necessary. If you do not own a car, the Supplemental Liability Protection can protect you in case you cause damages in excess of $200000 in an at-fault car accident.
